Using a Wick Trimmer will prolong the life of your candle for a brighter, cleaner, and more even burn.

A trimmed wick not only reduces soot and smoke, but will also preserve the candle. This helps to control how much wax melts to create an even burn and significantly prolong the life of the candle.

Longer wicks will have a larger flame and burn at a faster rate. This will use up the wax more quickly and create a dangerous flame level. The more fuel you feed to a candle can lead to increased levels of smoke and potentially incomplete combustion.

Too long of a wick will also create a mushrooming effect.

If your candle has developed a "black cap" on the end of the wick, similar to a mushroom cap, it means your candle wick is mushrooming. When the wick to wax ratio gets thrown off, it will create too big of a flame to properly burn the wax. This causes carbon from the flame to build up, forming the mushroom wick.

How Much to Trim

It's suggested that prior to each burn, you cut the candle's wicks to 1/4".

The extended length of the trimmer allows you to reach deep inside any candle to easily clip the wicks, without needing to grapple with the candle, like holding it on an angle or having to use a pair of scissors. This also prevents soot and wax from getting on your arm and hand.

The wick trimmer's box tray feature around the blades serves the purpose of collecting the snapped wicks to prevent any mess.
