What is HVAC Scenting?

Ensure a consistent, even distribution of fine fragrance that will make guests feel like they just stepped foot in the lobby of a luxurious hotel.

What is an HVAC system?

Both our Villa Scent Diffuser and Presidential Scent Diffuser are HVAC-compatible, meaning it connects to home heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. These systems control the overall atmosphere in your home from humidity and temperature to the purity of the air. These systems are ideal for scenting large spaces or multiple areas throughout a home.

How do Hotel Collection Diffusers scent a space using HVAC systems?

Cold-air diffusion technology is a simple and ultra-quiet way to scent a space. Using air pressure to deliver nanoparticles of broken down fragrance oil throughout your home's HVAC ducts, the Villa and Presidential create a direct approach to whole home scenting, with little to no maintenance. This type of advanced atomization technology is residue-free and safe for pets, children, artwork, and furniture.

How do I set up my Scenting Schedule?

Please read the complete instructions to connect your diffuser, set up scenting operating periods, and begin scenting. Both of these diffuser models offer up to four operating periods and have scenting intervals programmable down to the second.

Where are HVACs located in the home?

HVAC units are usually found in a utility closet, garage, attic, basement, or crawlspace. Some homes and offices may have multi-system HVAC units, in which case we would recommend using several diffusers.

You can also place stand-alone units in parts of your home that are smaller, have less air direct flow, and that do not have access to direct HVAC vents.

What if I have a Split System, Central Air, or Individual Window Units?

Split systems are often mounted on the wall along the edge of the ceiling, inside individual living rooms to serve the space more directly. While it is possible to connect the Diffuser to these systems, it can be more complicated to install.

Some guests prefer to contact a heating and air service specialist to assist with installations. For more information on installations into these home systems, please email us at support@hotelcollection.com

What HVAC system does my home have?

There are many different sizes and types of HVAC systems. Each HVAC system has an air intake duct, where you will attach the Villa's tube. Common materials for these ducts include styrofoam, fiberglass, and expandable foil. To puncture a hole in this duct, to connect the Diffuser's tubing, you will need a pair of scissors, a screwdriver, and HVAC foil tape to secure and seal the tube to your air intake duct. If needed, please first remove the filter to access your air intake. To determine the type of HVAC system your home has, try looking at the installed unit for a model number.

Will the oil damage my A/C unit?

Our diffusers are residue free. All of our Fragrance Oil Blends are designed to work specifically with our state-of-the-art, cold air diffusion technology, which breaks down oils into nanoparticles that are released through the ventilation system as a cool, dry mist.

Do HVAC systems only work with cold air?

No. Our HVAC-compatible Diffusers can also be used with the fan or heat settings in the central air conditioning system. Please note that warm air will give you a slightly stronger fragrance, as it heats up the scent molecules.

Do I need to have my AC running at all times?

You do not need to run the air conditioning or heating in order to enjoy home scenting with HVAC-compatible Scent Diffusers. For the fragrance to circulate throughout your home, the fan on your HVAC’s thermostat must be on. The fan setting on your HVAC system maintains airflow.

However, if for some reason you need to completely turn off your HVAC unit, you must also manually turn off the Villa Diffuser using the Power Button. You can also unplug the Villa's cord from the wall's power outlet.

What square footage would it cover?

The Villa Scent Diffuser covers up to 1,800 square feet.

The Presidential Scent Diffuser covers up to 3,000 square feet.

How often will it require maintenance?

The only maintenance is to clean the diffuser every 1-2 months and change your oil bottle when empty. We also recommend cleaning your diffuser when swapping between fragrances to ensure optimal performance. If you choose to change your settings afterward, the units are extremely easy to reprogram.

Discover: Which Diffuser is Right for Your Home

Please follow the steps below to convert your Villa Diffuser from stand-alone to HVAC-compatible:

  1. Unscrew the metal nozzle on top of the unit and replace it with the external HVAC connector.
  2. Insert the thick transparent tubing that comes with your Diffuser into the external HVAC connector.
  3. Use a screwdriver to make a small hole in the ductwork.
  4. Measure the tubing from the unit to the ductwork, and cut off the excess with a scissor.
  5. The tubing should form a 90° angle to enter the duct work. Ensure the tubing is straight with no loops or curves.
  6. Seal the tubing with HVAC tape.
Disclaimers:
  • No more than an inch of transparent tubing should be inserted into the ductwork.
  • Ensure the tubing is placed in the supply of the duct work for an even distribution of scent (after the return and filter).
  • To remove this tubing, simply press and hold the black ring on the HVAC connector and carefully pull the tube out.
